Jiang said Andrew has been an old friend and a good friend of the Chinese people, and made significant contribution to the enduring, stable, and healthy development of the relationship between China and the U.K.

Jiang said he hopes that China and the U.K. can continue the "golden era" of their relationship, and strengthen exchanges and cooperation in culture, innovation, and other fields.

He added that although the Belt and Road Initiative was put forward by China, the opportunities and achievements it brought belong to the whole world, and hopefully China and the U.K. can both benefit by sticking to the principle of achieving shared growth through discussions and collaborations.

Andrew said that he is willing to work with China to continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of talent cultivation, innovation, and entrepreneurship, so as to further promote the "golden era" of the U.K.-China relationship.

Barbara Woodward, British ambassador to China, and Zhang Ye, director general of the International Liaison Bureau of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, also attended the meeting.
