Shandong to extend its operating mileage of expressways by more than 2,500 km by the end of 2025

According to a press conference held by the Information Office of Shandong Provincial People's Government, Shandong plans to extend the operating mileage of expressways in the province by more than 2,500 km by the end of 2025, with the mileage open to traffic reaching 10,000 km, remaining in the top five in China, and road network density reaching 6.4 km/100 square km, ranking second in the country.

The next five years will be a critical period for the building of Shandong’s strength in transportation. Expressways in Shandong will be greatly improved in terms of scale of construction and quality of operation and service. Shandong will further speed up the reconstruction and expansion of arterial expressways, with the proportion of two-way expressways with more than six lanes reaching 36%, which will greatly enhance the traffic capacity.
