A briefing on the five-year achievements in developing the socialist culture with Chinese characteristics -- the sixth of a series of briefings on China's five-year achievements -- was held in Beijing on Sept. 15. Around 800 people, including government officials, military officers, executive officers of state-owned enterprises, university faculties and students, and representatives from the general public attended the briefing.

Huang Kunming, the executive deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and chief of the Office of the Central Guidance Commission on Building Spiritual Civilization, said in his report that under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with General Secretary Xi Jinping as the core, China has mapped out an outline endeavoring to develop a socialist culture with the goal of realizing the Chinese Dream of great national rejuvenation. Xi has attached great importance to building culture, and he delivered a series of speeches to answer the major questions in building China into a nation with a strong socialist culture under the new historical circumstances, providing strong theoretical support for guiding the development of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics, Huang said.

Huang emphasized that China has achieved tremendous achievements in developing the socialist culture with Chinese characteristics. He summarized the progress from several aspects. Under the leadership of the CPC, news and other cultural workers have stayed confident in the path, theory, system, and culture of Chinese socialism. They also raised the awareness of the need to maintain political integrity, to think in big-picture terms, to uphold the leadership core, and to keep in alignment. Guided by the core socialist values and people-centered principles, they carried forward the Chinese traditional culture and pushed ahead with cultural reform, in a bid to create a favorable public opinion environment for the sound and stable growth of China and for better presenting China to the world.

Huang also said that China will fully put into practice the guidelines from Xi's major addresses and the new ideas and strategies on the governance of China, speeding up the building of China into a country with a strong socialist culture.
