China has always been striving to develop its major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at a briefing held on Aug. 29.

The briefing is the third of its kind on China's five-year achievements held by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the Work Committee for Departments Directly Under the CPC Central Committee, the State Organs Work Committee of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Education, the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission, and the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee.

Around 800 people from all walks of life, including government officials, executive officers of centrally administered state-owned enterprises as well as teachers and students from Beijing-based universities, attended the briefing.

Under the central leadership with President Xi Jinping as the core, China has been forging ahead with its foreign policy as a strong guarantee to achieve the Two Centenary Goals and realize the Chinese Dream of great rejuvenation of the country, Wang said during his report, adding that China's diplomacy has yielded fruitful results in the past five years.

Following are some excerpts from his report:

-- Upholding the Party's leadership and staying confident in the path, theory, system, and culture of Chinese socialism, China has gained more understanding and recognition from the international community about its social system and development path.

-- Adhering to the concept of win-win cooperation, China has put the Belt and Road initiative into practice and made it the largest platform for international cooperation and the most popular global public product.

-- China has been actively building a global network of partnerships featuring equality, peace and inclusiveness, covering various regions and countries all over the world.

-- With deepened participation in global governance, more and more Chinese proposals have become international consensus, and more and more Chinese plans have been incorporated into international action. China has had a greater say in agenda-setting and rule-making over international affairs.

-- China has been resolute in upholding its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and maritime rights and interests, as well as safeguarding the country's security and unity.

-- Giving full play to its advantage, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has actively catered to domestic development needs and continually put forward new ideas and measures to serve the country's reform and development.

-- By implementing the principle of "diplomacy serving the people," China has been greatly improving its consular protection to better serve overseas Chinese.
