Building a strong talent foundation is important as China aims to become a socialist cultural power, said a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Oct. 20.

Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a symposium with representatives working on the publicity, ideological, and cultural fronts.

Huang called for people working in the fields to always bear in mind the priorities of the country's development, assume their due responsibilities, and contribute to the building of a modern socialist country in all respects.

Huang urged related departments to explore new ways to build a strong talent force in the publicity, ideological, and cultural fields, launch major projects to cultivate a team of professionals, reform the existing talent building mechanism, and create an enabling environment for them to grow and prosper.
