Media outlets of Lancang-Mekong countries should join hands to tide over the difficulties to inject courage and confidence into the COVID-19 fight and send a message of hope to the people, said Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, in Beijing in a video speech at the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Media Online Summit.
In recent years, the six Lancang-Mekong countries, namely China, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam, have improved the cooperation mechanism and achieved results, which injected new vitality into regional development and the integration of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries, Huang said.
As China is about to embark on a new journey toward socialist modernization, the new development stage will bring fresh opportunities to Lancang-Mekong countries and the world at large, Huang stressed.
As COVID-19 continues to spread globally, media outlets of the Lancang-Mekong countries should support one another and cooperate to foster a sound environment for public opinion for economic recovery and sustainable development through worthy news stories, Huang said.
