Liangshan in Sichuan takes various measures to help women shake off poverty

As an important part of local poverty alleviation campaign work, local government have taken various measures, including developing traditional handicrafts and providing public service job positions, to help these women obtain nearby jobs and shake off poverty.

Liangshan, home to some 178,000 impoverished people, is one of the poorest regions in China that is aiming to eradicate absolute poverty this year. In recent years, most of the young men in Liangshan have left the mountainous region to work outside, with large numbers of women left behind without work.
