Liu, who is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark on Oct. 18 at a panel discussion of the delegation of Yunnan Province to the 19th CPC National Congress.

The report, delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the opening session of the congress, has introduced the Thought and answered a series of theoretical and practical questions on upholding and building the socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, Liu said.

The Thought builds on and further enriches Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Theory of Three Represents, and the Scientific Outlook on Development. It represents the latest achievement in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context, according to Xi's report.

Liu noted that the elevation of the Thought into the Party's guiding principle is of great political, theoretical and practical significance.

All members of the Party should study hard Xi's "new era" thought in terms of its historical background, scientific system and practical requirement, he added.
