Huang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said Hong Kong made unique and important contributions to the nation's reform and opening-up over the past 40 years, as well as to the modernization drive.

Huang said our country has achieved a tremendous transformation as it has stood up, grown rich and is becoming strong, and that has provided solid support for Hong Kong's long-term prosperity and stability.

He also urged Hong Kong's press circles to better report on the opportunities brought by the nation's development and create a benign atmosphere for deepening communication and cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong, and promoting Hong Kong's integration into the overall national development.
