With a pilot project making considerable progress, the influence of top national think tanks has been expanded, accumulating experience for building new-type think tanks with Chinese characteristics, said Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, at a meeting of the council of China's top think tanks on March 23.
Huang noted that facing new missions and demands in the new era, top think tanks should be forward-looking and innovative.
National high-end think tanks, as the highest-level organizations assisting in decision-making, should focus on problems and practical needs, and carry out proactive and effective research, while promoting institutional innovation and formulating their operating mechanism, Huang added.
He also called on top think tanks to actively communicate with foreign think tanks, tell Chinese stories to the world well, and better serve the country's external strategy.
