At the 8th session of the 7th Luohu District People's Congress, which opened on Jan. 29, district mayor Liu Zhiyong reviewed local government work in 2020 and put forward the priorities for 2021.
According to Liu, Luohu realized a steady economic growth, with its fixed asset investment reaching 38.4 billion yuan, an increase of 10.2% from 2019. Its finance sector saw over 85 billion yuan of added value, a 10% gain from the previous year.
During 2020, Luohu piloted the use of the digital yuan in a wide range of financial activities, the first to do so across the country. It also advanced its innovation-driven development and continuously upgraded the business environment.
The added value of the next-generation IT industry and digital economy increased by 9.4% and 3.2% respectively. A 5G industry zone was established, the first in Shenzhen. A total of 3,235 5G base stations so far have been set up.
The district also piloted bonded supervision reform in the jewelry industry and built a bonded service platform.
In total, Luohu spent about 12.9 billion yuan in improving people's livelihood. Tremendous progress was made in education, healthcare, subsidized housing and ecological environment. Law-based governance and digital administration were also reinforced.
"What's past is a prologue," Liu said, quoting the playwright William Shakespeare. In 2021, he stressed, Luohu was determined to grasp historic opportunities, coordinate COVID-19 pandemic prevention with social and economic activities, seek a steady growth and advance reforms in various fields.
More efforts will be exerted to build the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Port Economic Belt, advance high-quality economic development, improve business climate and make the district more livable.
Liu stressed that the district government will try its best to improve people's livelihood and enhance people's sense of happiness, fulfillment and security.
Luohu has redefined itself as "the hub of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the all-in-one Luohu". Connecting Shenzhen with cities of Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Dongguan, Luohu is already a hub in the truest sense of the word, said Liu.
He was confident that with the convergence of tradition and fashion, integration of nature and city living, Luohu would become a more beautiful place of diversity and vitality.
