A strong determination to develop AI

The two new polices demonstrate Changsha's strong determination to develop its AI industry. So far, the city has gained substantial progresses in developing ICVs. The testing zone in Changsha has completed construction with the initial investment of 200 million yuan, with an area of more than 82 square hectares. The zone will open to testing on June 30. Located in the Xiangjiang New District, the testing zone includes speedway, urban road, suburban road, off road, and research, administration, debugging areas. With a total length of 12 kilometers, the roads in the testing zone are presently the most complicated and longest in China.

The testing zone is also equipped with a complete lineup of supporting facilities. What's more, the zone has a simulated expressway with the length of 3.6 kilometers and a special runway for drones, both firsts in China.

The city has also initiated cooperation with the Changsha Intelligent Drive Institute and JD Driverless Car, meanwhile it is now carrying out road tests with FAW and Baidu. An official at the Changsha Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology said Changsha will make full use of its resources at hand and dedicate to building a road test center for ICVs. "Our newly implemented regulation is in accordance with the circumstance of our country's development in intelligent drive, and we believe it will boost the development of this industry," he said.
