The Luohu district government said on Feb. 23 that, apart from satisfying the mask requirements of all working staff on the frontline of the war against the novel coronavirus, it will be able to provide as many masks as possible to enterprises that resumed production earlier this month.
This is a move taken by the district to encourage enterprises to start firing on all cylinders as soon as possible, particularly those producing key materials supporting people's livelihood and for the anti-epidemic campaign.
The district government has assigned four of its departments - the industry and information bureau, the science and technology innovation bureau, the cultural, media, tourism and sports bureau and the financial service department - to serve 500 key enterprises in Luohu.
It also instructed 10 sub-district offices to serve the needs of local property management companies, small and micro businesses, as well as nearly those manning 3,200 stalls in 26 farm produce markets; 83 work stations affiliated to the sub-district offices in the residential communities are responsible to look after disadvantaged groups.
After obtaining masks, Luohu distributes them through this system as well as charity organizations to needy people as soon as possible.
During the two weeks up to Feb. 21, Luohu has sent about 1.05 million masks to more than 400 enterprises in its jurisdiction.
All State-owned pharmaceutical enterprises, trade companies, guilds, lawmakers and political advisers have taken the initiative to look for suppliers of badly-needed medical materials at home and abroad.
It is estimated about 40 percent of masks the government has distributed to the enterprises are from overseas.
At government bidding, some enterprises have transformed their workshop to produce masks and other medical materials.
Statistics show that as of Feb. 24, along with masks, the Luohu Charity Federation has received 19 million yuan, more than 200,000 masks, over 10 tons of disinfectant, and five tons of medicinal alcohol and large numbers of protective overalls, goggles and thermometers.
Notably, Bijie of Guizhou province, assigned to Luohu for poverty alleviation, has donated 20,000 eggs and 100 tons of vegetables to the frontline epidemic fighters.
Meanwhile, Luohu has strengthened its supervision on enterprises' epidemic control and work safety so as to ensure the resumption of production does not create new infections.
