In recent years, the government of Rongshui Miao Autonomous County carries out effective methods for poverty alleviation, helping local people to build roads, repair houses, improve education and develop industry.

Due to harsh environmental conditions, Rongshui has long been a less developed area in China. Up to now, there are still 76,800 impoverished people living in the county.
