The opening ceremony of "Photographers from Belt and Road Countries Focusing on Beijing," a photography project jointly organized by the Information Office of Beijing Municipal People's Government and the All-China Journalists Association, was held at the Grand Canal Forest Park in Tongzhou district on May 7.
The project is based on the 20-year-old photography event, "World Photographers Focusing on Beijing," calling for cultural exchanges between countries along the Belt and Road routes. Ten photographers from 10 countries including Russia, Belarus, Poland, Serbia, Latvia and Lithuania are invited to participate in the weeklong project. During this period, photographers will explore and capture Beijing's urban landscape as well as the contemporary lifestyles of its residents. They will also spend one day and use the "720 degree" photography technologies to capture a panoramic view of the city. Their photos will eventually be combined into a collection of Beijing's urban style, serving as a photographic database to promote the image of Beijing worldwide.
First created in 1999, "World Photographers Focusing on Beijing" has been held for almost 20 years. More than 100 photographers from over fifty countries and regions around the world have been invited to shoot pictures in Beijing. Their pictures have shown the development and prosperity of Beijing over the two decades.
