Beijing residents thought highly of the national governance in the past year, and 80 percent of them had above-average sense of gain, according to a recent survey.

Respondents also gave self-evaluations on their mental wellbeing, and 68.7 percent said they were in good mental health, while 31.3 percent said there was room for improvement.

The survey also asked residents to rate Beijing's social cohesion on a five-point scale, to which the respondents rated an average of 3.48, indicating a relatively high social cohesion. There were four factors considered as reflecting social cohesion in the survey: the level of social trust, the recognition of core societal value, the maturity of social network, and the sense of belonging. In general, residents responded positively toward social trust and the recognition of core societal values.

In addition, the survey shows Beijing residents think highly of the effect of national governance, and around 81 percent of the respondents had an above-average sense of gain. The respondents were asked to evaluate the policies that were closely related to the interests of ordinary people. Of the 28 policies evaluated, 23 received above-mean scores, indicating a generally satisfactory feedback to most policies.
