Beijing residents will have a chance to converse with the municipal government officials live on the air on issues concerning city management.

The seven-day talk show series from Jan. 22 to 28 will feature 23 top officials from various municipal government departments. The one and a half-hour show airs daily at 7:30 p.m.

The officials will represent departments including the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, the Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau and the Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage. During the live show, they will discuss with citizens on issues such as the phasing out of non-capital functions, air quality improvement, and the development of the Three Culture Belts (the Great Wall Culture Belt, the Canal Culture Belt, and the Xishan Mountain Culture Belt).

The live show is hosted by the General Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, and is jointly produced by Beijing TV, Beijing Public Service Radio, Beijing Network Television, the official website of the municipal government, the website of Beijing Qianlong News Network, and the official Weibo account of the information office of the Beijing municipal government. The series coincides with Beijing's ongoing local "two sessions" - the annual meetings of provincial lawmakers and political advisors. The 23 officials will communicate with citizens from the news studio set up by Beijing TV during the annual meetings.

The official website of the municipal government has been working with platforms such as the website of Qianlong to seek public advices on Beijing's city management since Nov. 20, 2017, inviting citizens to post questions to government department heads. More than 160,000 citizens have submitted questions as of Jan. 20. The five most frequently mentioned issues are environmental protection, removal of non-capital functions, renovation of old residential areas, traffic congestions, and employment and income. The officials will answer questions on these issues and more during the live talk show series.
