The First Session of the 13th Beijing Municipal People's Political Consultative Conference and the First Session of the 15th Beijing Municipal People's Congress, known as the Beijing's "two sessions," will open on Jan. 22 and 24 respectively, reported Beijing Daily.
The agenda of the congress, which will last for six and a half days, includes reviewing the municipal government's work report and the implementations of the city's economic and social development plans, deliberating on the city's budget report and work report of the standing committee of the people's congress, people's court and people's procuratorate, and electing on the deputies to the NPC as well as the municipal's top posts.
A preparatory meeting will be held to adopt the agenda of the congress, the presidium and other draft lists. The official meeting will be presided over by the presidium. Six plenary meetings will be held to hear the reports and make corresponding resolutions.
During the congress, a special committee will be launched to review the national economic, social development plan and the budget, and another committee will be set up to review the bills.
The hearings of the work reports of the municipal people's government and the standing committee of the municipal People's Congress will be broadcasted live on television. Seven live webcasts of the delegations’ deliberation will be held to increase the openness of the congress.
Beijing has started the preparations for the congress since October last year, including organizing training for the deputies of the new municipal people's congress. The city has completed almost all preparations.
A press center will be set up to help Chinese and foreign media better cover the event. Reporters should apply to the press center. The deadline for accepting interview applications is Jan. 22.
