A China-Europe cargo train loaded with 88 containers of disposable medical masks left northeast China on Friday afternoon for Madrid, supporting the COVID-19 fight and work resumption in the Spanish capital.
The supplies, purchased by the Spanish government, consist of more than 64 million masks, weighing 30.6 tonnes.
It is the first special freight train to send medical supplies to Spain from Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province. The train is expected to arrive in Madrid after a 22-day journey.
The China-Europe rail routes have been playing a crucial role in supporting Europe's anti-epidemic fight, and have become an important transport channel for stabilizing global trade and production resumption amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
