The China-Europe freight train departed from Minsk, capital of Belarus, in mid-July. The whole journey is 8,536 km long.

The batch of goods, worth nearly 20 million yuan (US$2.91 million), with the overall weight of 1,025 tonnes, was imported by the Greenland Business and Trade Group.

The group will import over 480 containers of milk products from Belarus through 12 more China-Europe freight trains this year. The imports of milk powder will exceed 300 million yuan, said Wang Yi, assistant of the general manager of the group.

Statistics from Belarus show that the country exported a total of 186,500 tonnes of dairy products to China in 2018, with the export value totaling 60.5 million U.S. dollars, rising eightfold from 2017.

Wang said the group will expand its imports of beef, poultry meat, cheese and butter from Belarus in the following three years.
