2018 Belt and Road International Rally with a fleet of 43 vehicles started its journey from Kunming on Thursday.
The race team will travel more than 5000 kilometers in the next 18 days, and return to China after crossing Laos, Cambodia and Thailand.
The event is expected to set the stage for economic and cultural communication between southwest China's Yunnan and its neighboring countries and regions, as related activities are held along the way, said Yin Yong, director of the Yunnan sports bureau.
Belt and Road International Rally was successfully held in 2016 and 2017, gradually gaining a brand in south and southeast Asia. For this year's rally, two main track races will be seperately held in Bangkok on December 18 and Jinghong, Yunnan on December 23.
