Lebanon hosts cultural exchange forum to enhance China-Arab ties

A forum of cultural exchanges between China and the Arab world kicked off in Beirut on Oct. 25, aiming at enhancing bilateral cooperation in the context of Belt and Road Initiative.

A forum of cultural exchanges between China and the Arab world kicked off in Beirut on Oct. 25, aiming at enhancing bilateral cooperation in the context of Belt and Road Initiative.

The forum of the second Translation and Cultural Exchanges between China and the Arab World, which lasts two days, was held in the Lebanese University, under the auspices of its president Fuad Ayoub.

China's Ambassador to Lebanon Wang Kejian said on the occasion that "the friendship that develops in the communication between peoples is the key to good relations among nations."

He stressed that "cultural and human exchange remained one of the important pillars of China-Arab cooperation within the context of the Belt and Road Initiative."

Wang noted that "translation, which is an important bridge for intercultural communication, plays an irreplaceable role in increasing rapprochement, enhancing mutual trust and pursuing friendship between China and Arab countries."

Zhu Weilie from Shanghai University said the forum aims at enhancing communication and cooperation between China and Lebanon, adding that Lebanon is a "cultural and civilized country that can play a bigger and continuous role in the human communication and cultural cooperation between the two sides."

Zhu also expressed hope that the forum would become a stable mechanism between China and Lebanon.

Ayoub said that the university is making effort to build bridges with various cultures and civilizations in the world, including China, which is its focus.
