The expo represents the important measure that China has taken to open up its market to the world, which will increase foreign imports, improve the supply structure and promote an open world economy, Wang said at a meeting on preparation work for the expo.

Wang said the expo will not only provide a platform to trade goods and services, but also work as a multi-functional and comprehensive platform for closer international cooperation.

He said the expo should be built into a global public good that can push the development of the Belt and Road Initiative as well as economic globalization.

Wang requested cooperation with countries and international institutions to enhance the attraction and influence of the expo.
