As the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region progresses, Beijing's "two wings"-- the Tongzhou subsidiary administrative center and the Xiongan New Area -- gradually take shape.

Data from the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform shows that 11 tasks to improve the city, including closing illegal street vending stalls and regulating overcrowded apartment rentals, have been completed ahead of schedule this year. In addition, 3,200 hectares of land restored from demolition of illegal structures has been developed into green space.

A team of 115 people from 23 municipal departments has been established to construct Beijing's Tongzhou subsidiary administrative center. The city planning has basically finished, and 145 out of the 255 main projects have begun construction, while 20 have been completed.

Beijing has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Hebei Province to promote the development of the Xiongan New Area. Emphasizing public services construction of Xiongan, Beijing has launched preparatory work for building a Zhongguancun Science Park in the area to improve its developmental capacity.

Another important element to the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is integrating its transportation systems, and the region aims to build a one-hour commuting circle through the high speed railway network.

A cooperative mechanism of ecological management has been launched in the region, including managing the Yongding River, building forests and wetlands park surrounding the capital, and improving the condition of the 122 mu (about 81,333 square meters) forest land in the Bashang area of Zhangjiakou.

In terms of industrial cooperation, Beijing is speeding up planning for the economic zone at its new airport. Moreover, 234 enterprises have registered in the Zhongguancun Science Park in Tianjin’s Binhai New District, and the Caofeidian Demonstration Area has signed 129 Beijing projects. Two data centers have been put into operation in the Zhangbei Cloud-Computing Industrial Base. The preparation for the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games will also promote the coordinated development of the region.

Beijing has also led innovation-driven development. Zhongguancun Science Park has launched strategic cooperation with over 60 areas in China and built 15 science parks in partnership with foreign countries. Zhongguancun-based enterprises have established 11,000 branches outside Beijing in China, and 75 percent of the revenue was generated outside Beijing.
