The Vietnam National Drama Theater will, late next month, stage a play called The Dream of the Red Chamber, adapted from one of China's four great classical novels.

Vietnamese actress Diem Huong will play Lin Daiyu and Vietnamese actor To Tuan Dung will play Jia Baoyu, two key characters in the novel, the theater said on Wednesday.

Due to time limit, the play, adapted by Singaporean director Chua Soo Pong, will focus on love and jealousy.

The Dream of the Red Chamber, which has nearly 40 major characters and over 400 additional ones, covers wide psychological scope, and depicts the life and social structures typical of 18th-century Chinese society in details precisely.
