More than 1,000 Beidou satellite navigation collars have been used for camels herding in Bohu County of Bayingol Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, to relieve burden on herders.
Badumara, a herdsman at a camel breeding cooperative of Bohu County, is in charge of over 300 camels. Camels are usually grazed in the Gobi Desert, so in the past he had to go into the desert with them.
Three years ago, Badumara started to use satellite navigation collars to herd camels. With the assistance of the Beidou satellites, he has been able to use smartphone to track the location and moving speed of the camels.
Badumara told Xinhua that in the future, he will make full use of the functions of Beidou satellite navigation, including the pedometer and temperature monitor, to ensure that every camel is in good condition.
