Yangzhao in Jishan County, a small village by the Yellow River, has a history of making lanterns dating back to the Qing Dynasty. The village makes more than 2 million lanterns every year, with an annual output of nearly 100 million yuan (15.4 million dollars).

Village Chief Zhao Changqing says that his family started making lanterns in 2011, and every Spring Festival they completely sell out.
