East China's Shanghai municipality starts to test its first unmanned farm in Waigang township. From planting rice seedlings to spraying pesticides, in the initial stage, about 13 hectares of paddy fields in the farm could operate without human labor. After upgrading, the entire farm could realize unmanned operation from planting to harvesting with the help of the 5G technology, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence. It will lower costs and boost production. It is estimated that by the end of 2022, the unmanned farm will expand to about 106.6 hectares.
