Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Thursday called for efforts to boost the quality of Chinese products amid market competition and nurture more competitive products, in a bid to better cater to people's needs.
Li, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, gave the instruction to an event that is set to promote public awareness of quality and boost continuous quality improvement.
While stressing the role of quality in boosting the nation's development and people's wellbeing, Li called for efforts to improve the comprehensive regulation of quality and optimize monitoring of the quality of industrial chains and supply chains.
Li also highlighted the importance of making breakthroughs in product quality via innovation, as well as creating high-quality products and services.
China will adopt a zero-tolerance approach toward products with quality and safety issues, and will take steps to boost the efficiency of services, Li said.
