An article by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on striving to build a modernization where humanity and nature coexist in harmony will be published Wednesday.
The article by Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will be published in this year's 11th issue of the Qiushi Journal, a flagship magazine of the CPC Central Committee.
Historic, transformative and comprehensive changes have been made in the construction of China's ecological civilization thanks to a series of major strategic arrangements since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, the article says.
Calling harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature one of the vital characteristics of China's socialist modernization, the article stresses incorporating such a concept into the country's economic and social development.
China should unswervingly promote green and low-carbon development, enhance efforts on the fight against pollution, and improve the quality and stability of the ecosystem, the article says.
To promote global sustainable development, the article urges actively participating in global environmental governance, and strengthening international cooperation in the fields of climate change, marine pollution control and biodiversity protection.
Efforts should also be made to advance the modernization of China's governance system and capacity on issues related to the ecological environment, according to the article.
