Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Huang Kunming on Friday urged efforts to promote the high-quality development of the nation's publishing industry.

Huang, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks while addressing a symposium on the publishing of the latest edition of "Cihai," a large-scale dictionary and encyclopedia of the Chinese language.
Urging a close look at the experience gained in publishing the authoritative dictionary, Huang said the publishing industry should adapt to the new changes in readers' habits and cultural demands and create more quality books that appeal to readers.
Copies of the latest seventh edition of "Cihai" were made available in bookstores and via online platforms across China in September.
First published in 1936, the dictionary was last revised in 2009.
