A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official on Thursday called for more exchanges and cooperation between China and Arab states in broadcasting and television.

Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the fourth China-Arab States Broadcasting and Television Cooperation Forum in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province.

Before delivering his speech, Huang read Chinese President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter to the forum, saying that the letter showed the great importance attached to the friendship between China and Arab states, pointed out the direction for further cooperation and injected strong impetus into deepening the exchanges and cooperation between China and Arab states in broadcasting and television.

At the new historical starting point, further strengthening the exchanges and cooperation between China and Arab states in culture, broadcasting and television meets the common expectations of the peoples, according to Huang.

He also stressed more efforts to build consensus, publicize the new achievements China and Arab states jointly made in building the Belt and Road, and tell the stories of the civilizations, the peoples and the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides.

Over 300 guests from 19 countries and regions attended the forum.
