A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official has called for further education on the Party's ideals and convictions, the history of the Party and country and ethnic unity, as the People's Republic of China (PRC) celebrates its 70th anniversary.
Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during an inspection tour to southwestern China's Guizhou Province from July 18 to 20.
A wave of high spirits about striving in the new era should be aroused across society, he said.
Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC is a major event on the political calendar of the Party and the country this year, Huang said, asking for a combination of the ongoing Party education campaign themed "staying true to our founding mission" with the promotion of the achievements over the history of the PRC to inspire the people.
Noting that the foundation and focus of the Party's publicity and ideological work are at primary levels, Huang called for more patriotic educational and cultural activities among the people at primary levels, as well as efforts to push forward the high-quality development of the integration of culture and tourism.
