Provincial and ministerial officials on Wednesday were asked to resolutely safeguard Xi Jinping's core status within the Communist Party of China (CPC) and its central committee.

Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at the opening of a course at the CPC Central Committee Party School for provincial and ministerial officials to study and implement the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
The school will hold seven consecutive education courses for such officials from this month to April next year.
Wang called on the officials to take the initiative both in thought and action to study Xi's thought as well as the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress.
They should keep their "political stance, direction, principle and path" consistent with the CPC Central Committee with Xi at the core, he stressed.
He asked the officials to study the revised CPC Constitution and the report delivered by Xi at the recent congress, to understand the historic significance and rich connotation of Xi's thought as well as the importance of socialism with Chinese characteristics entering a new era.
He also urged them to apply what they learn and to implement the decisions and policies of the CPC Central Committee.
