Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, called for the implementation of core socialist values in his article published on the People's Daily on Nov. 17.
Core socialist values were put forward by the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core, defining the basic requirements and development direction of socialism with Chinese characteristics in a new era and rallying the Chinese people toward the realization of the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
Huang said that implementing core socialist values has a far-reaching and profound significance. It is a major task in upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics, leading the Chinese people in a concerted effort to carry out a great struggle, develop a great project, advance a great cause, and realize a great dream. The values instilled a strong sense of national confidence into the Chinese culture.
He also stressed that the 19th CPC National Congress was a major milestone in the Party's history, setting the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The upholding and practice of core socialist values should be in compliance with Xi Jinping Thought.
Huang pointed out in his article that the nurturing and implementation of core socialist values should concentrate on cultivating the talents that could undertake the great responsibility of national rejuvenation.
He also shared his thoughts on drawing on core socialist values to guide education, efforts to raise cultural-ethical standards, and the creation, production, and distribution of cultural and intellectual products. And all areas of social development should be imbued with these values. People should step up institution building across the board to make integrated advances in law-based governance, and Party members and families should play their exemplary and fundamental roles in implementing core socialist values, Huang wrote.
