The Communist Party of China, with President Xi Jinping as the core, has been committed to cultural building with high cultural confidence, awareness and responsibility in a comprehensive and systematic way, said Huang Kunming, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee in an interview with People's Daily.
President Xi has attached great importance to cultural building and held several major conferences and seminars to press ahead with this issue, Huang said. After five years' development, cultural building with Chinese characteristics has taken on a new look in the following five aspects, he said.
First, the road for developing an advanced socialist culture has been affirmed; second, works of art have been more people-oriented; third, a positive social atmosphere has been promoted; fourth, the reform of cultural administrative system has picked up steam; fifth, the fruitful achievements in cultural building have raised China's cultural influence on the international stage.
More than 200 research projects have been launched to provide theoretical support for the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics, Huang said.
Furthermore, Huang said the Chinese traditional culture was inherited and developed in a new way. The protection of intangible culture heritage has been beefed up and China's traditional culture has been presented to the Chinese people in new and diversified forms.
International exchanges and cultural trade have been expanding.
Chinese media has strived to promote the Chinese culture to the world and cooperate with foreign mainstream media.
