Media integration requires support from new technologies, said Tuo Zhen, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, while addressing the Media Integration and Development Forum 2017 held in Shenzhen on Aug. 19.

He emphasized that media "need to be technology-sensitive" and media professionals "need to have an interest in, take a receptive attitude toward, and gain application capabilities in new technologies."

Focusing on user experience, media integration must adapt to mobile-oriented development and give priority to the invention of news apps, Tuo said.

Tuo also stressed the importance of personnel training, adding the country needs to take a variety of means to improve the talent environment in a bid to better attract and retain talents and make good use of them.

The annual forum, launched in 2015, is co-organized by People's Daily, the Party's official newspaper, and the Shenzhen government.
