China Radio International (CRI) and Russia Today (RT), two leading news agencies, launched a bilingual news app for mobile devices on July 3 in Beijing.

Huang Kunming, executive vice minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, speaks at the launching ceremony of a bilingual news app co-produced by CRI and RT.

The launch of the new app partly materializes a comprehensive cooperation agreement in the field of new media that was signed by CRI and RT in the presence of President Xi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in June last year.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Huang Kunming, executive vice minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, said the bilingual news app is the brainchild of new media cooperation between the two countries and is based on advantageous resources and deep exploration of audience demands in the two countries.

He also believed that the two countries will bring about more high quality news products that can enhance public understanding and friendship.

The app will not only provide news stories and information, but also services like bilingual radio programs, online translation, cross-border e-commerce, travel information and live streaming, explained CRI Director-General Wang Gengnian.

It is now available on both iOS and Android devices.
