The State Council Information Office (SCIO) held a parallel session at the 5th Hongqiao International Economic Forum on Saturday, with the theme of new prospects for China and new opportunities for the world.
The session brought together over 200 representatives from nearly 60 countries and regions to discuss ways for opening dialogue, deepening exchange, and contributing to the prosperity of the world.
Former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Djoomart Otorbaev said the recently concluded 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has sent a positive signal to the world with its announcement that China will continue its high-quality development and bring new opportunities to the world. He said Kyrgyzstan is looking forward to deepening cooperation with China and working together for a better world.
Former Prime Minister of Spain José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero said that China has created a miracle in poverty reduction by lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty since its reform and opening up. The grim challenges facing the world have made it more important for countries to work closely together, and China is expected to play a key role in promoting peace and development, he said.
Zhu Min, vice chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges and former vice governor of the People's Bank of China, said he believes that China will have a larger market potential and stronger growth momentum in fields like the digital economy, carbon peak, and carbon neutrality after vowing to "effectively upgrade and appropriately expand China's economic output" in the report to the 20th CPC National Congress. He said China will share its development opportunities with the rest of the world.
At the parallel session, a new book was launched by Renmin University of China themed on the Global Development Initiative.
