The fourth international seminar on counter-terrorism, de-radicalization, and human rights protection opened on Wednesday. Jiang Jianguo, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.
Jiang said that the world has made major headway in the fight against terrorism over the past two decades since the 9/11 terrorist attacks; however, terrorism and extremism are still rampant in many parts of the globe, with terrorist incidents happening from time to time, and the world has yet to pool great strengths against terrorism and radicalization.
Jiang called for the international community to step up cooperation, discard the double standards of counter-terrorism, combine combat with prevention, and address the root causes of terrorism and extremism, while promoting the rule of law and effectively protecting human rights.
