The Silk Road Carnival & Spring Festival Gala 2021 was launched in Tang Paradise, a theme park in Xi'an, northwestern China's Shaanxi province, on Feb. 3. The event was livestreamed across the world celebrating the Chinese New Year.

The event was composed of a 24-hour online carnival that introduced the history, culture, cuisines, and adventures of 36 countries along the ancient Silk Road, as well as a three-hour online Spring Festival Gala sharing songs, dances, as well as stories about the global fight against COVID-19.

The aim of the event was to celebrate the Chinese New Year, bring people's hearts closer, and boost morale amidst the pandemic.

Guided by the State Council Information Office and the National Radio and Television Administration, the event was co-organized by the Shaanxi Media Convergence, China Intercontinental Communication Center, People's Daily Online, and the Administrative Committee of the Qujiang New District, Xi'an.
