Postman honored as role model

The Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee has honored postman Chimed Dorje as "role model of the times."

He was awarded a medal and certificate of honor.

Chimed Dorje is a postal car driver, delivering mail for two counties in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province.

Taking the Sichuan-Tibet postal route, which has an average altitude of 3,500 meters, he has traveled a total distance of more than 1.4 million km during the past 30 years, with no accidents ever occurring.

He was once badly wounded from protecting mail from robbers and went back to work after he recovered.

He was acknowledged as an outstanding representative of grassroots workers and a model in maintaining ethnic solidarity.
