Central China's Hunan Province has progressed in achieving high-quality development over the past decade, according to a press briefing held in the provincial capital of Changsha on Friday.

The province's gross domestic product jumped from 2.1 trillion yuan (about 312 billion U.S. dollars) in 2012 to 4.6 trillion yuan in 2021.

The per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents in Hunan increased from 21,300 yuan and 7,400 yuan in 2012 to 44,900 yuan and 18,300 yuan in 2021, respectively.

Meanwhile, 6.82 million registered poverty-stricken Hunan households emerged from poverty during the period.

Hunan has also made progress in improving the quality and stability of its ecosystem, with the province's forest coverage rate reaching 59.97 percent in 2021, according to the press briefing.
