Significant progress has been made in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region over the past decade in achieving high-quality economic development, according to a press briefing in the regional capital of Nanning on Friday.

Over the past 10 years, Guangxi's gross domestic product more than doubled to reach 2.47 trillion yuan (about 365.8 billion U.S. dollars) in 2021. Additionally, 6.34 million people were lifted out of poverty during the period.

Meanwhile, Guangxi has made progress in comprehensively deepening reform, expanding opening-up and cooperation, and improving the business environment, according to the press briefing.

The number of trains operating within the sea-rail intermodal service of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor had exceeded 6,000. And the number of enterprises settled in Guangxi's pilot free trade zone exceeded 73,000, 19 times the number before its establishment.

At the same time, Guangxi has been sticking to green development, with urban air quality, surface water quality, and forest coverage rates in China's front rank.

Lan Tianli, chairman of Guangxi, said the region would continue to promote high-level environmental protection and high-quality economic development.
