A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Friday slammed Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority for sending people to the so-called "democracy summit" hosted by the United States.
Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said it only exposes the DPP authority's nature of seeking "independence" in the disguise of democracy.
He called the summit a political manipulation to maintain the interests and hegemony of the United States, adding that the so-called U.S. "democracy" has itself been widely questioned by the international community and the people of the United States.
