China's grain output will remain at 65 million metric tons per year during its 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), said Liang Yan, vice administrator of the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration, on Friday.

Liang said that China had for the first time listed a specific grain comprehensive production capacity as a binding target among its major social and economic development goals.
She said that China will formulate a law to guarantee food security, and push forward projects to improve quality grain production while reducing grain losses.
With high output, stable supply, and adequate reserves, the food security of the country is guaranteed, Liang said.
