China added 10.99 million new urban jobs between January and November in 2020, accounting for 122.1% of the annual target, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Tuesday.

China added 10.99 million new urban jobs between January and November in 2020, accounting for 122.1% of the annual target, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Tuesday.

In November, the urban surveyed unemployment rate was 5.2%, 0.1 percentage point lower than that of October, said Fu Linghui, spokesperson of the NBS, at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office. The unemployment rate fell for the fourth consecutive month since August, Fu said.

In November, the consumer price index (CPI) fell 0.5% from a year earlier after rising 0.5% in October. For the first 11 months, the CPI went up by 2.7% year on year, 0.3 percentage point slower compared with the first 10 months, NBS data shows.

In the first 11 months, fixed-asset investment grew 2.6% year on year, 0.8 percentage point faster than that of the first 10 months. Private investment was up 0.2%, achieving growth for the first time in 2020, the NBS said.
