Online retail sales in rural areas surge 8.4 times in 5 years

E-commerce is increasingly contributing to poverty alleviation as the business model has helped China's 832 poverty-stricken counties get rich. E-commerce sales in rural areas expanded 8.4 times from 180 billion yuan (US$27.2 billion) in 2014 to 1.7 trillion yuan in 2019.
