China to hold summit to facilitate digital development

China will hold a high-profile summit in the coastal province of Fujian from April 22 to 24, to give an extra push to its booming digital development.

China will hold a high-profile summit in the coastal province of Fujian from April 22 to 24, to give an extra push to its booming digital development, according to a State Council Information Office press conference held Thursday.

The 1st Digital China Summit will be held in Fuzhou, the provincial capital. The Cyberspace Administration of China, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Fujian government are jointly running the event.

The theme of the summit will be "Facilitating information-driven development and a digitalized China," according to the press conference.

The summit will serve as a platform for policy updates and industry communication, as well as a product showcases, said Zhuang Rongwen, deputy head of the Cyberspace Administration of China.

An expo will be held during the event to exhibit China's achievements in digital economy and digitalized government administration in recent years.

The summit will create cooperation opportunities for businesses and research institutes attending the event, according to the press conference.

"Our goal is to facilitate the development of China's digital economy and digitalized administration," Zhuang said.
