A Chinese New Year celebration is held in the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic on Jan. 15, 2020.

"2020 Happy Chinese New Year, Charming Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei" is an annual Spring Festival celebration presented by Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei in foreign countries.

Zhang Run, Chinese ambassador to the Dominican Republic, and Zhang Aijun, head of the cultural exchange delegation and deputy director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, delivered speeches during the opening ceremony.

China established diplomatic relations with the Dominican Republic in 2018. This is the first time that the annual Spring Festival celebration came to the coastal country.

In the evening, traditional Chinese music and dance were presented, along with several intangible cultural heritage demonstrations such as paper-cutting and calligraphy. Brochures themed on the 2022 Winter Olympics were also distributed among people in attendance.

The "Charming Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei" celebration was co-hosted by the information offices in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. Three such cultural events were presented in the Dominican Republic for this Spring Festival.

The event will later be held in Beverly Hills, California, in the U.S.
